Key Findings for August 2026
August's data shows an unusually quiet top and a violent reshuffle everywhere beneath it. Family held #1 for appearance rate at 40.1%, gaining +6.0% while keeping a commanding lead in the "Top 1" ranking (12.8%, +2.7%), with Love steady in 2nd (36.8%, +3.0%). Health finally steadied at 10th (24.1%, -5.2%) after two months of collapse.
The most significant story was the near-total unwinding of July's purpose surge. Every value that led it gave the gains back. Contribution (-24.7%) and Spirituality (-22.0%) each fell fifteen ranks, followed by Meaningful work (-23.3%), Competence (-22.1%), Inner harmony (-20.6%), Ethics (-19.4%) and Authenticity (-18.0%), with "Top 1" shares dropping by as much as -31.7%. Growth, July's biggest climber, slipped from 2nd to 4th (33.2%, -10.3%).
In their place, a relational cluster tightened its grip while ambition returned from the margins. Friendship rose to 3rd (35.0%, +21.0%) with the sharpest "Top 1" gain of any tracked value (+52.1%), Loyalty climbed to 5th (31.2%, +18.7%, Top 1 +20.7%), and Respect (+11.6%) and Trust (+10.8%) both strengthened. Lower down, status and achievement rebounded after a quiet summer: Success jumped sixteen ranks to 14th (19.9%, +29.8%), Wealth rose ten (+19.7%, Top 1 +29.6%), and Fame (+40.4%), Tradition (+24.4%) and Popularity (+20.2%) all grew sharply from small bases.
Ultimately, August was defined by a "Belonging over Becoming" trend, and nothing captured it more precisely than the split between two neighbouring values. Religion led all values in relative growth (+41.5%), climbing nineteen ranks to 24th and breaking out of the narrow 10% to 12.5% band it had held since March, while Spirituality fell fifteen ranks in the same month. Religion's conversion from appearance to #1 barely moved, holding near 43% and still the highest of any value, so what changed was how many people reached for it rather than how strongly they felt once they had. Inherited, shared and traditional bonds gained all month, while the inward work of growth, meaning and self-definition was set aside.
